Ines Safi is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique of Palaiseau and a CNRS researcher specialized in condensed matter theory at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides in Orsay, where she studies nanoscale systems. Recognized internationally for her expertise in one-dimensional systems, she has also been interested, for a number of years, in the significance of quantum mechanics and the ethical and environmental questions raised by science. In January 2016, she joined the jury at the end of the class on the philosophy of sciences.
